Greece is another one of several European countries that uses the Euro as currency. You can either use cash, that you can withdraw from the numerous ATM machines, that can easily be found in any of the cities/islands in Greece, or just use your debit / credit card for transactions.
Greek banks have limited hours; Monday-Thursday from 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Some branches are open extra hours in the evenings and on Saturday mornings. It’s important to bring your passport for verification purposes.
Larger hotels, travel agencies and “authorized” bank agents will exchange money. Please keep in mind that the extra fees and commissions are not standard and it is good to ask and check before you proceed.
